Paper Ribbon - Wrapping Decoration

MeteoRain proudly presents this step-by-step photo tutorial page, using 100% recycled material, to make a paper decoration for gift-wrappings. To be honest, these are my trial attempts before I decide whether to implement into my actual projects. Scrapped quite a few of them because they did not turn out to be how I expected, which will in turn contribute to some pointer later.

I used half a A4 paper, already printed on both sides. The size of the paper you use doesn't really matter. It will only affect the size and volume, but will still look beautiful.

Fold the paper into half.

Make a crease right in the center.
(Fold half again and open up)

Cut along the crease, leaving about 1 cm at the end.

Hold the paper into half and cut the paper into strips of about 1cm wide.
Leaving about 1 cm at the end as well.

It would now look like this.

Open up the paper and curl it by running the paper between the blade (of scissors or penknife).
・ I use a penknife, 'cause I cannot seem to be able to hold the scissors right for this.
・ I open the paper, 'cause I curl one strip at a time. I feel that it's easier that way, and every strip will be curling its own direction.
・ I run the paper at least 5 times. The curlier the paper is, the nicer it looks.
・ Also, you wouldn't wanna hold the paper too tightly or you'll rip it.

After curling, it would look something like this.

Fold it into halves a couple of times until it reach desired size (or rather, until you can't fold it anymore).

Tape it to hold it in place.
(Note that I used scrap stickers, and even use the surfaces to
practise my handwriting to maximum its use.)

Hold the stem of it, so you can attach to your project easily.
Glue or tape it to wherever you want~

Ta-Da~ Nice and beautiful. The one in the center was done earlier, and I feel that the lack of curl makes it not as appealing as the others that curl really messily in a good way. =D You can use beautiful papers, like wrapping paper, magazine paper, or origami paper to create the style you desire!

Look at some of my projects that I used it on~!
